  1. I’ll Be There For You

    May 8, 2009 by Katie

If you asked me what my all time favorite TV show is, I wouldn’t even think twice about answering…FRIENDS!

Every single episode of all 10 seasons of that show made me laugh, some made me cry.  Even though the characters were fictional, I felt like they were my very own friends. And as I’ve gotten older, I feel like I share many character traits and life experiences with them.

If you haven’t seen the show (you’re missing out) or you don’t know much about it, then this post probably won’t interest you.  Or you’ll just think I’m doing a recap of an odd Halloween party.

But if you love FRIENDS like we do, then these pictures won’t need much explanation.

We’d been talking for awhile about how fun it would be to have a FRIENDS party and how I really wanted to make Rachel’s Thanksgiving trifle to see what it actually tastes like.  Well, a date was set, invites went out and about 18 of us gathered to celebrate our friendships and our (well, most of us) favorite TV show.

Todd wanted to grow out a moustache and go as Richard, and I decided to go blonde & quirky as Phoebe.

For those who don’t know, these are the layers in Rachel’s Trifle:

ladyfingers, jam, custard, raspberries, more ladyfingers, beef sauteed with peas & onions (yes, you read that correctly), more custard, bananas, and whipped cream.

I will admit, it did not taste too bad.  If you got minimal beef in your bite, it was tasty.

I think we’ll make this a yearly tradition, and I highly recommend that any of you who are FRIENDS fans have your own party, and send me pictures!!!!

  2. Springtime in Seattle

    May 5, 2009 by Katie

I have to do a two-part weekend recap because there was just too much going on to fit it all in one post.

This is part of my continuous effort to bring awareness to our blog readers about the wonderfulness that is Seattle and how you all should come visit us :)

One of my favorite places is the Washington Park Arboretum.  We’ve driven through the area many times and I love to run on the grassy trail amongst all the blossoming trees. It’s beautiful year round with azaleas, magnolias, cherry trees, rhododendrons, hydrangeas, dogwoods, maples….

But I’d never been to the Japanese Gardens at the Arboretum until I met up with my friends for “Becky, Shauna & Katie’s Friday of Fun”.

I love this place, it’s like a botanical sanctuary buried in the hustle and bustle of a big city….

We enjoyed a lovely walk, girltalk, soaking up some sun and a delicious lunch.  Plus, I got to drive the convertible and give Shauna a ride in it.  Funny how they both thought I wasn’t allowed to drive our car :)

That evening Todd and I headed to Fremont to help my friend Alix celebrate her birthday.  Even though we didn’t know anyone else there, we had a lot of fun and it felt like we were a couple of young kids out on a Friday night date.

We are bus riders through and through, so driving or taking a cab is never our first option when going somewhere.

Unfortunately, we stayed at the party a little too late and there were no buses heading back to downtown Seattle after midnight.

So we walked home.  3 miles.  Me barefoot, because high heels are not the best way to walk a 5K.

Hey, at least it was a warm night.
